Phil Duncan graduated from the Wood, Metal, Ceramics & Plastics course at Brighton Polytechnic in 1982. Following a career in retail management and then as a teacher of Art he has been working as a practising artist since 1996 from his studio in Lewes, East Sussex. His truly unique pieces of ceramic, built and finished by hand, for the house and garden have a wide appeal that works on many levels and have, subsequently, become popular with many private collectors nationally and abroad.
Formed using shaped slaps of clay his work is typified by having two facets on which he often has two designs which he likens to the ‘A’ and ‘B’ side of a vinyl record.
Keen to promote and encourage the work of local artists Phil formed the Sussex Arts Collective in 2006 and is currently the Chairman of the Management Committee for the Arts@theCrypt Gallery in Seaford.
