The way forward for Uckfield Art Trail

Dear Uckfield Art Trail supporter,

At a short but well attended meeting last Saturday, it was unanimously decided that the Uckfield Art Trail should continue by relaunching itself as a separate entity from the Uckfield Festival. That way it will be able to run events at other times of year, apply for its own grants, and be free to manage its own affairs.

Art Trail founder Tim Benians said “We look forward to another decade of great art in the town. There is a lot of work to be done in forming this new group, and we invite potential helpers as well as new ideas. So have your say now!”

The Art Trail celebrated its tenth show in July, when guest of honour Roger Dean was at the Civic Centre to open the proceedings. Internationally famous for his rock album artwork, Roger was extremely complimentary of the standard of work on display in Uckfield, from local professional artists and craftspeople to primary school children. Roger said, “What you are doing here is fantastic, keep up the good work everyone”

We are now beginning a short period of consultation, during which the committee are considering the way forward. For example, do we want to become:

  • Unincorporated association
  • Company limited by guarantee
  • Benevolent society/charity
  • Charitable status
  • Social Enterprise

And who will step up to be our chairman, treasurer, fundraiser working towards 2016? These are all questions we need answers to in order to continue. If you have any suggestions, please make contact with us.. Thanks
