Jade and manequin 600pxJade started sewing at age 15 and by 18 was selected as the youngest contestant on the Great British Sewing Bee television programme which has been on air since mid May. In week five of the competition Jade was awarded Garment of the Week for her vintage 60s style jacket.

Local to the Uckfield area, Jade had been a competitive swimmer for eight years, but after an injury had to give up her dreams and concentrate on sewing and as a swimming instructor.

In 2015 she designed a dress fashioned from Christmas trees which was displayed in the Uckfield High Street window of Josefina, the home interiors and gift shop. She has also made a stunning ballgown for her prom and even neckerchiefs for the family’s English bulldogs, Jeorgie and Jessie.

Jade’s dream for the future lies in potentially having her own fashion label or opening her own haberdashery shop.

As guest of honour, Jade will be opening the Bridge Arts Fair in Uckfield’s Civic Centre on July 15th at 7pm. All are welcome to join us and celebrate with a glass of wine or a soft drink funded by sponsorship from Sew ‘n’ Sew Haberdashery. With nearly 40 stalls of art and craft work for sale, there will be plenty to see and potentially purchase for your home or as a gift for someone special.
